The Republic of Burundi’s 2040-2060 Vision, a bet to win for President Ndayishimiye

During his stay in Washington D.C. where he took part in the National Prayer Breakfast, the Burundian Head of State His Excellency Evariste Ndayishimiye has held numerous meetings with several leaders and prominent figures with a view to concluding partnerships likely to advance the country towards achieving the Vision “Burundi emerging country in 2040 and developed country in 2060”.

This Tuesday, February 4, 2024, the President of the Republic granted an audience to Mr. David Beasley, Former Director General of the World Food Program. During this audience, they discussed the socio-economic situation prevailing in Burundi where the Burundian Head of State recounted the efforts of his people oriented towards the economic recovery of the country.

“Burundi is a reconciled country, peace and security reign everywhere. Now we are working on development,” noted the President of the Republic, reiterating however his fear following the deterioration of peace and security in the DRC, a situation which, according to him, risks affecting neighboring countries, or even the entire region, if the international community does not act immediately and energetically.

The Burundian Number One also received in audience Mr. Roger Jantio, CEO of Sterling Merchant Finance Limited, a financial institution that supports investments in Africa and which would like to initiate investment projects in Burundi, particularly in the mining sector.

“Burundi is a country that is full of potential. Apart from its mineral-rich soil, it has a young and hard-working population. And I can say without hesitation that the Burundian Head of State will achieve this Vision,” he told the press after the audience.

The President of the Republic of Burundi also met with Ms. Valerie Huber, President of the organization “Institute for Women’s Health” who wishes to establish a partnership with the government of Burundi particularly with a view to improving the health and well-being of women through the PROTEGO Project.

On this first day in Washington D.C., His Excellency Evariste Ndayishimiye received in the audience Mr. Peter Pham, Former UN Special Envoy for the Great Lakes Region. They discussed issues related to the development of Burundi and the restoration of peace in the DRC for the maintenance of peace and security in the Great Lakes Region.
